Answer
The public drinking water supply in Rathlin Island is supplied from Rathlin WTW, which abstracts raw water from a ground water source. Samples for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS compounds) have been taken for Rathlin WTW raw water and treated final water since 2022. PFAS sample results for both the raw water and the final treated public drinking water supply from Rathlin WTW show that all the results are in line with the regulatory standards i.e. are within the recommended tolerances, with the majority of results reported at less than the level of quantification (LOQ) for the PFAS substances tested.
