Answer

Claimants are only placed in Limited Capability for Work or Limited Capability for Work and Work-Related Activity categories following a Work Capability Assessment with the exception of a very small minority of cases such as those who are terminally ill. Due to the volume of detail required to answer your question, the information attached at Annex A has been placed in the Assembly Library and includes some cases where a Work Capability Assessment was not carried out.
