Answer

The management of public wastewater infrastructure is an operational matter for NI Water. However, I have sought the requested information from NI Water and have been advised as follows:

In North Antrim, two wastewater treatment works have been upgraded in the last five years, Ballintoy and Ballyvoy.

Under the Rural Wastewater Improvement Programme, which targets investment at small rural treatment works to ensure ongoing compliance, work has also been completed in North Antrim in the last 5 years at Buckna, Gortereghy, Hillcrest Ballymoney, Lisnagunogue, Magherahoney and Racavan wastewater treatment works.

In addition, the upgrade of the Grange wastewater treatment works is ongoing, with an expected completion date of Spring 2025.

For any future queries relating to operational matters, you should contact NI Water directly, through the Elected Representatives Hotline on 0345 300 6461 or through waterline@niwater.com

Making direct contact with NI Water will ensure that you receive the information in the shortest possible timeframe and make best use of limited public resources.
